Description of ASTM A269 Stainless Steel Tube
ASTM A269 stainless steel tubing covers seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel tubes for general corrosive service and for high- or low-temperature applications. Selection should be based on the operating medium, temperature, pressure, corrosion conditions, fabrication method, and project inspection requirements.
When requesting tubing, specify the material grade, outside diameter, wall thickness, length, seamless or welded construction, heat treatment, surface condition, testing, and required material documentation. For welded boiler, superheater, heat-exchanger, or condenser service, compare ASTM A249 tubing. You can also review our complete heat exchanger tubing range or send your technical requirements for quotation.
Common Applications
The applications for A269 tubing are extensive due to its versatility.
Heat Exchangers and Condensers: Used for the tubes that carry fluid inside a shell-and-tube heat exchanger.
Instrumentation and Process Lines: Transporting gases, liquids, and semi-fluids within a processing plant.
Food, Beverage, and Pharmaceutical Processing: Its smooth surface, cleanability, and corrosion resistance make it ideal for hygienic applications. In these industries, it is often supplied with electropolished (EP) or mechanically polished finishes.
Chemical and Petrochemical Industry: For general corrosive service in piping systems and equipment.
Hydraulic and Pneumatic Lines: Used for transmitting fluids and gases under pressure.
Architectural and Decorative Uses: When a specific structural standard is not required.
